In a sometimes unusual exchange, but an important one symbolically, ISIS survivor Nadia Murad met US President Donald Trump.
She spoke about the desire to return to villages around Sinjar (Shingal),
Trump said he knew the area very well. Murad pressed him on help for half a million Yazidi IDPs. Trump said he would look into it. He clarified that she had received the Nobel Prize. He also appeared to not know the reason she got the Nobel Prize. She replied about ISIS rape of Yazidi women. Murad pressed Trump on the need to see ISIS members put on trial. She said 3,000 Yazidis were missing, including Murad’s niece, nephew, sister-in-law,
