An important development on the path to victory over ISIS in Baghuz after months of fighting. Nevertheless as reports come out that part of the camp has been taken, reports indicate that the fighting is not over.
Rojava Information Center wrote “reported that the tent-camp of
#Baghouz is 100% under control. The operation is not yet finished. Some jihadists who haven’t surrendered are gathered in a litlle area on the shore of the river #Euphrates. Some families are being held as human shields.”
ISIS was confined to a “tiny pocket.”
Reports indicate that the camp where many ISIS fighters had been holed up has been mostly taken in Baghuz. But… “SDF fighters have not taken up positions in the so-called encampment, a jumble of mangled vehicles, makeshift berms and tents on the edge of Baghouz village. But the battle hasn’t finished yet,” writes Mahmoud Sheikh Ibrahim.
Woofers writes “It’s done.”
Mustafa Bali has a map
He notes “SDF is in control of Daesh encampment area in
#Baghouz. This is not a victory announcement, but a significant progress in the fight against Daesh. Clashes are continuing as a group of ISIS terrorists who are confined into a tiny area still fight back…Hundreds of injured/sick Daesh militants were captured following #SDF’s control over #Baghouz camp site and have been evacuated to nearby military hospitals for treatment today.”
Some 157 ISIS fighters were also captured.
More ISIS surrenders were filmed.
ISIS was also able to put out one last video from the battle.
