Mosul suffered greatly in the battle to liberate the city from ISIS. Reconstruction has been slow. Repairing the bridges was essential to helping the city. However major rains in mid-March have now damaged the bridges.
The UN and other agencies had helped pay to rebuild the bridges. But it appears that whoever built them had not built them to withstand the flooding.
Some of the bridges had been inaugurated recently or re-opened according to reports
