Iraq charges French ISIS members who were transferred from Syria

According to a report “Baghdad has begun legal proceedings against 14 French nationals suspected of belonging to the ISIS organization, the US-backed Syrian Democratic forces captured in Syria and taken to Iraq last month, legal sources said.”

“The men appeared before the magistrate of the anti-terrorism court in Baghdad on March 6 in a procedural step in preparation for their trial,” said a lawyer appointed by the court and a member of the judiciary.

The men confessed to involvement in the occupation of Mosul during ISIS rule. “A member of the judiciary said that if the defendants were tried in Iraq and convicted of crimes against the country and against the Iraqi people, they may be sentenced to death.”
