Trump: 100% for keeping US forces in Syria, tough trade for Turkey, amid new Ankara threats

In yet another reversal, the US now says it is 100% for keeping forces in Syria. “”I agree 100%. ALL is being done,” he wrote in response to a letter by US Senators and members of Congress, that said “Like you, we seek to ensure that all of the gains made in Syria are not lost, that ISIS never returns, that Iran is not emboldened, and that we consolidate our gains and ensure the best outcome in Geneva for American interests.”

Unsurprisingly this led to another round of Ankara statements. Turkey said it is definitely buying the S-400, something it has said before.

Turkey then said it must control the “safe zone”, Daily Sabah: “President Erdoğan: Turkey must control the proposed safe zone in northern Syria, we cannot accept anyone else to control this area”
