A report claims that there may be as many as 8,000 US forces in Iraq, mostly at several bases. They are doing mostly advise and assist and training missions, including some air strikes as part of CJTF:OIR. However after the tensions in Mosul with a US patrol and Trump’s comments about “watching Iran,” there are rumors about US deployments.
According to one report: “The Iraqi citizen began to complain about the presence of Americans in the streets, roads and alleyways, so we saw them wearing civilian clothes.”
It is not entirely clear if this is just rumors or an attempt to send a message to the US, but after the incident in Mosul, the tensions are rising.
